Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hypnosis?
A state of relaxation and
concentration at one with a state
of heightened awareness induced by
suggestion. It is a natural relaxed
state of mind and body.

Are there some people you cant hypnotise?
No.(except mentally disabled)
although of course the degree varies from
person to person.

Will I be aware of what is happening?
Yes. Most people are surprised to remember
all that has happened during the therapy.

Could I do anything against my will
or nature?

No. In fact you would be shocked out of the
hypnotic state immediately any such action was
suggested to you.

So Im not asleep then?
No. You are just simply
extremely relaxed.

Is there any cause at all
for concern?

None whatsoever. Hypnosis is a
proven therapeutic aid.

How many sessions will I need?
Simpler problems like Smoking,
Nail Biting, Confidence, Exam Nerves, etc.
Require 1-3 sessions and the success rate is
surprisingly high.
The more deep-rooted emotional/psychological problems
require analytical rather than suggestion therapy
which usually consists of 6-10 weekly sessions.

Can (normal) people be psycho analysed?
Not only can be, but should be.
For an insight into yourself, it has no equal.

Can I bring someone with me to the consultation?
Yes of course.

Can you help with medical problems?
If you think your problem may be medical,
it is essential that you consult your G.P. first.

Why do some therapists take five or six sessions for
smoking cessation and you take just one?

There are many reasons why therapists take a different
number of sessions, to help with different problems,
their training, their experience, their approach to the
problem etc. I believe that therapy should be conducted
as easily and quickly as is possible -
without taking any short cuts.

This is from the summer 2009 APHP journal and outlines why testimonials are no longer to be used.
